About
RESEARCH INTEREST
Applications of methods of Mathematical, Statistical, and Computational Physics, and Dynamical Systems in interdisciplinary subjects in solid state physics, atmospheric science, and biophysics. Current research topics of interest include:
a. Application of Weather, Research and Forecasting (WRF) model plus Chemistry in Air Quality modeling following the schemes MOZART, GOCART, and MEGAN. Study of the asthma-weather connection. Toy models of the physics and chemistry of the atmosphere (reaction-diffusion-advection models). Applications of methods of fluid dynamics in urban meteorology.
b. Bio-meteorology: Mathematical modeling of the dynamics of the lungs, and the immune response during asthma episodes by using system of differential equations and feedback loops. Mathematical modeling of genetic oscillators under environmental stress.
c. Using WRF to estimate the air ramp potential for wind farm deployment and the solar radiance for photovoltaic industry.
d. Physics of nanostructures and low dimensional electronic systems with emphasis on superconductivity and topological insulators. Phase transitions in low dimensional superconducting, metallic and semiconducting materials and hybrid low-dimensional hetero-structures
PROGRAMMING COMPONENTS
1. Mathematica (or C language equivalent)
2. Sage (or Python equivalent)
3. Community Regional Scale Modeling paclage - Advanced Weather Research and Forecast (WRF) plus Chemistry (WRF-Chem) - National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR).
